SCHUMANN Digital Credit Management Conference 2019 in Göttingen
The annual SCHUMANN Conference took place in Göttingen from the 26th to the 27th of September. More than 200 specialists from diverse industries took part in the conference, which was a public event for the first time. The focus was on talks, workshops and discussions on the digital management of risk and credit.
Largest conference so far, with high participation
Under the banner of digital credit management, SCHUMANN welcomed more than 200 experts for credit and risk management from various industries, making this the largest SCHUMANN Conference the company has organized in the event's history. The programme offered a notable diversity with use cases, workshops, discussion panels and talks on risk-related themes aimed at companies from the areas of credit insurance and surety bonds, industrial production, trade, energy and the financial services sector. The participants also benefited from the provision of parallel sessions, which offered various formats concentrating on particular themes and markets, enabling an intensive exchange of knowledge. "We are delighted that there is such a great interest in our conference", declared Dr. Martina Städtler-Schumann, Managing Director of SCHUMANN. "With this event, we provide a large platform for all themes relating to digital credit management. I think we can say with self-confidence that our customers trust us to master their challenges in the areas of digitalization and risk management. And we are especially pleased about their openness, which allows deep insights into their business procedures. This enriches the conference enormously."
Practical experience from user to user
A total of nine use cases from SCHUMANN customers provided interesting experiences gained from practical situations. Michael Schaad, Director Credit & Surety Operations at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, for example, reported about his experiences with the new design of workflows and the automation of processes. He emphasized that the main factor for success is the concerted interaction between users, systems, data and processes in combination with flexible, configurable technology. Mike Holley, CEO of Nexus Trade Credit explained: "Because we offer our services online, it is a must that the system is 100% reliable. This is the reason we use CAM. It also offers a large selection of APIs, which are necessary for our international business." Jan Ostermeier, Group Finance and Risk Management at EWE reported vividly on how the control of credit risks and limits at the EWE group works with software support. The positive effects are more efficient processes and an improved data basis. Representatives of further companies also shared valuable insights from their practical experiences. These included Hagebau, the DZB Bank and VHV Insurance.
Connecting theory with practice
In addition to the reports on practical usage, future challenges, technological developments and their possible use were also in focus. "We also see our conference as an important link between theory and practice. Themes such as the use of artificial intelligence, efficient management of master data and flexible receivables management are important building blocks on the way to a successful digital transformation", commented Städtler-Schumann. The SCHUMANN Innovation Lab therefore informed participants about specific themes connected with the software and the Partner Area presented a selection of SCHUMANN's business partners, who provide, for example, data or other specialist knowledge. "We are constantly developing our solutions further. The conference helps us to collect first-hand feedback, hear between the lines and, importantly, to connect the different worlds of our customers. They might come from very different industries but they share a common intention: all of them want to make reliable decisions and reduce risk to a minimum. In this respect they can also learn a lot from each other", summed up Städtler-Schumann.
