SCHUMANN's AI platform ALEVA improves the analysis of payment experiences

SCHUMANN is presenting its new AI platform ALEVA. Using the first product on the platform "ALEVA Payment Experiences", internal customer payment records can be evaluated more precisely than with traditional assessment procedures. In addition, the analyses can be complemented with intelligent insolvency and liquidity prognoses. A study has confirmed the advantages.

Every company is facing the challenge of reducing risk in customer relationships and designing its credit risk management in a way that is secure for the future. With the current uncertainties in markets it is essential to evaluate risks correctly and to monitor the progress of business. "With our product ALEVA Payment Experiences we now offer companies the possibility to evaluate their customer transaction data significantly more precisely and to secure their business with various prognoses", explained Dr. Martina Städtler-Schumann, Managing Director of SCHUMANN.

AI Recognizes 50 % More Insolvencies

In a reference study carried out by SCHUMANN, the use of ALEVA led to significantly improved results in comparison with inflexible rule-based systems. In the area of payment prognosis an exactness of ~75 % was achieved in the prediction of when payment would be made. AI is able to make better evaluations of payment period deviations and thus to make more precise estimates. In the evaluation of payment default, significantly improved risk estimation is enabled so that insolvencies can be forecasted earlier. In comparison with classical procedures, 50 % more insolvencies can be recognized at an early stage. False positives, meaning customers who have been incorrectly assigned a good creditworthiness rating and then later default, can also be reduced by 25 % in the A und B rating spectrum.

ALEVA Payment Experiences

In the product for evaluating payment experiences three AI models have been combined in a multi‑agent system to enable a holistic evaluation of internal payment data: payment prognosis, payment behaviour and payment default. These models enable analyses at both invoice and customer level, and can be aggregated across the entire debitor portfolio. "In addition to improved risk estimation, the future-orientation of the product is a decisive advantage. ALEVA enables a dynamic evaluation of the internal payment experiences, which then adapts itself to any changes", explained Dr. Tobias Vinhoven, Product Owner AI at SCHUMANN.

Integrating AI into Existing System Landscapes

On the one hand, the AI product is available as a module in the SCHUMANN risk management software CAM. On the other hand, integration of AI-generated evaluations and prognoses into existing system landscapes is also possible. The resulting information can then be integrated into decision-making processes as structured data. In addition, SCHUMANN offers an internet portal. This provides the possibility to view evaluations and prognoses and to manage monitoring functions online.

ALEVA is an AI platform developed by SCHUMANN that enables access to various products. "ALEVA Payment Experiences is the first product that we are offering via the platform; further products are in development. It is also possible to perform AI projects that are tailored to individual customers", said Dr. Tobias Vinhoven in conclusion.
